Kavaklıdere Prestige Öküzgözü 2019

Kavaklıdere Prestige Öküzgözü 2019

Central Anatolia, Turkey ( 75 cL )

Öküzgözü in its original homeland: altitude, depth and freshness.

A deep, distinctive Öküzgözü whose Elazığ terroir brings freshness, structure and length.

In its native terroir of Elazığ, Öküzgözü reveals a deeper and more structured side than its Pendore counterpart. The Aydıncık vineyards, planted at high altitude on clay-loam soils mixed with gravel, benefit from a continental climate that preserves acidity while concentrating the fruit. Dark plum, cherry and dried red fruit are accompanied by leather, tobacco, spice and earthy notes. French-oak ageing polishes the texture and extends the finish. Fresher, deeper and more persistent than the Pendore, it expresses a more distinctive and structured side of the variety.

Founded in Ankara in 1929 by Sevda and Cenap And, Kavaklıdere Şarapları was the first private-sector wine producer of the young Turkish Republic. Nearly a century later, the house continues its ambition to reveal the diversity of Anatolian wine through its own vineyards across the country. From Cappadocia to the Inner Aegean, from Ankara to Elazığ, this geographic reach allows Kavaklıdere to work with each variety in the environment best suited to expressing its identity. The house combines this approach with parcel-focused viticulture, modern facilities and a longstanding commitment to showcasing Turkey’s indigenous grape varieties.
